Vanteon Introduces vPrisumTM Next Generation Software Defined Radio

Fairport, NY (December 1, 2014) – Vanteon is pleased to announce its next generation Software Defined Radio (SDR) development platform, called vPrisum TM, which will be available to clients in early 2016. vPrisum TM is a SDR platform which enables clients working with Vanteon to develop custom RF solutions more rapidly and at a lower development cost compared to designing from scratch.

vPrisumTM combines Vanteon intellectual property (IP) including software libraries, waveform code and interfaces with an all-new hardware development environment, using state-of-the-art SDR electronics. The vPrisumTM hardware platform is based on the Analog Devices AD9361 Agile RF Transceiver and the Xilinx Zinq FPGA to provide full functionality and flexibility in developing new and innovative SDR applications.

Software Defined Radios (SDR) have countless applications in the Smart Grid, Medical, Military, Commercial and Industrial markets. Vanteon has been designing SDRs for over 10 years, utilizing the highly successful WaveCasterTM IP platform, the predecessor to vPrisumTM.

“vPrisumTM provides a unique advantage for clients looking to quickly and cost effectively develop specialized applications by jump-starting the development process from the solid foundation of a proven platform.” says Dr. Aaron Roof, Vanteon’s Chief Technical Officer.

The name vPrisumTM is formed from two words: prism, and visum (Latin for “view”) to convey the idea that the platform can view a broad spectrum, but is generic in order to avoid a strict association with radio technology, since the platform may be used for other products such as signal analyzers.

Vanteon is currently under contract to develop its first commercial application utilizing vPrisumTM and is in discussions with several other clients seeking cost-effective and rapid time-to-market solutions for their wireless data communication products.
