Project Showcase: Embedded Support for the Defense Industry
Background
The Rochester NY region is rich in companies supporting and developing new products for the defense industry. From embedded support on existing radio designs to complete ground-up developments, Vanteon is there to meet the complex needs of our defense industry customers.
Problem
Winning a new government contract is just the beginning. Engineering and production departments must ramp up to begin meeting schedule and deliverables immediately. Defense and government services clients need flexibility to quickly staff projects without all the overhead of onboarding new employees. Also, given the current labor market, finding engineering candidates with the appropriate skills and experience can be a long process.
Approach
Vanteon is registered as a small business with the System for Award Management (SAM.GOV), is authorized to handle ITAR data by the DDTC, and is implementing controls under CMMC 2.0. In addition to conducting standard pre-employment screenings on all staff members, Vanteon can provide additional screening services if necessary to meet the requirements of a government or prime contract.
Solution
Although Vanteon traditionally provides managed development services, we offer our engineering team for short- and long-term assignments for customers with whom we have strong relationships. We have staffed projects with durations varying from 3 to 18+ months. In addition to having the opportunity to utilize Vanteon’s full-time employees, Vanteon also has an extensive network of contract-based engineers that we can pull from to ensure sufficient staffing.
Recent placements include those skilled in:
- Real-time operating systems, including Linux
- C and C++
- Object-oriented design, and
- Agile software development
